BEHIND THE LABELS
Locke Vineyards label captures our beautiful region in Calaveras County with views of our mountains, rivers and Sequoia trees. The Sequoia tree is dedicated to Kevin's love and 35 year career in foresty in the Sierra Foothills. The label represents why the Locke family loves Calaveras County and what landed them here in 1983. The Locke label has been in production since 2003. Calaveras County is home to rivers, lakes, large groves of Sequoia trees, caves, and rolling wine country hills.
Locke Vineyards Reserve label captures and represents our larger families passion for California agriculture and wine with now four generations of who have worked to create and cultivate multiple daries, ranches, orchards, and vineyards in Northern California. The reserve label consists of exclusive small areas of vineyards, given extensive care and attention, aged in premium oak barrels, and less than (50) case productions of each varietal.
LOCKE VINEYARDS - VINES
Locke Vineyards was established with the first harvest in 1995 at the Mountain Ranch vineyard, which today is our oldest operating vineyard continuing to produce award winning Zinfandel. The Murphys vineyard was planted in 1998 and has since grown into our main vineyard estate and home to the tasting room & farmhouse shop. Depending on the year, additional grapes will be sourced from select small lot vineyards in the Sierra Foothills region on top of the ten acres of grapes Locke Vineyards grows from the two vineyards in Calaveras County.
